Based on the real life story of Alan Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), who is credited with cracking the German Enigma code, THE IMITATION GAME portrays the nail-biting race against time by Turing and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British Establishment, but his work and legacy live on.
THE IMITATION GAME stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness, TV’s Sherlock) as Turing and Keira Knightley (Atonement) as close friend and fellow code breaker Joan Clarke, alongside a top notch cast including Matthew Goode (A Single Man), Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Charles Dance (Gosford Park, TV’s Game of Thrones), Allen Leech (In Fear, TV’s Downton Abbey) and Matthew Beard (An Education).

This movie is extremely erroneous in its depiction of the historical events. Do yourself a favour by reading some book or by watching Codebreaker (documentary), in case you want the truth.

Absolutely psycho evil that they gave this poor guy a "choice" of prison or melting his balls with chemicals because he committed the "crime" of being gay. Someone who contributed an incalculable amount to allies winning the war. UK, you should absolutely be ashamed of yourself.

To be honest, Joan Clarke, who is of course, British, has a lovely and cute British accent.

It is one of the best films and stories ever told , ive read about it watch documentaries on it , but to think how the war was won by his control of information given and calulated to build up a advantage , of over period of time , then this genius and war heroe destroyed because of being gay , we are crazy , he should be on every bank note out of respect!!!

Inaccuracies in the film: 1, He did not hire the woman who became his friend. In real life, she already worked there before he arrived. 2, All those who worked with him knew that he was gay. It was not a big secret.
