Street Rod (PC/DOS) Longplay, 1989, California Dreams

Year is 1963 and you’re one of the hotshots aspiring to be king of the county. You’re given a small sum of money to buy your first car. Tune it for maximum performance and off you go. In the diner where other hotshots are waiting to take your prized possession, you race for money and pink slips and if you win, you get to take home their cars!

The game’s interface is relatively easy and fun to use. You have your own garage as the interface itself. Options are in the form of the garage’s elements such as the clock for the game’s main menu and the newspaper as your source for buying cars and parts. Add to that a third person with an attitude that talks to you as you play It’s really a neat idea by which up to now, no other racing games have that style. You feel that you’re living a virtual world as opposed to just going from menu to menu. Another realistic part is the ability for you to sell your car and haggle

  1. that road race from 18:39… pure adrenaline. Especially in the last race I would get crazy adrenaline kicks – still got it from your video – going through the red line trying to catch up with the other guy, not being sure if the wheels are squaling or if it is the cops…

  2. Woow I used the first PC in my life back when i was 11 at school… and i loved this game… it was Gran Turismo 6 for that time hahaha.

  3. Makes me wanna go get an old pc and track down all the floppy disks and CDs to all these old games I used to play as a kid. This was one of the first games I ever played.

  4. I played this game for the first time now in 2019 and I liked a lot. I can imagine how incredible it was back in the 90's.

  5. I love how the cop can't get you if you cross the finish line before they pull you over or murder you.
COP: "Son, that was one hell of a run. I will just let you go since you finished before me."

  6. I still beat this game every like 5-6 years ever since it came out when I was a kid. It is still a fun game to beat even now that Rocket League is the best game ever made, and I spend 90% of my gaming time playing that. Street Rod will always live on for me, though. Actually, I think its about time for another playthrough, thanks 😀

  7. Me encanta , hay un truco que es comprar el coche más barato , desmontarlo y vender el esqueleto por 10.000 dolares .

  8. Man, the nostalgia hits me hard. I was a little kid when I played this main car in this game was always Chevrolet Corvette

  9. ive been playing it here cant get my top speed from 121 to 130. cant see any difference in parts.. the king keeps smoking my ass

  10. My first PC Racing Game on Intel 386er 1991 cost 10 DM in Germany 🙂 OMG im old 33 now 🙁 if i see it i cant believe how much time gone, feels i played yesterday if i see that. Now i can understand why i like old American Cars i would drive one but they so dursty and Gas is expensive here in Europe

  11. ahaha I remember downloading that game back in when I built my first pc back in 2006. It was hard for me because of the controls but I always liked the genre. This game put to shame many recent titles, they gave us a lot with only what they had in the past and nowadays they have the technologies and gives us terrible product….

  12. OMFG, i played this so much back in the day ! Wish there was a similar game nowadays !

Never used this tactic, always went for – get car, tune, improve then race for pink slips and win !
